Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Nurse Practitioner

The closing date is 05 December 2025

Job summary

Claypath and University Medical Group is a large single practice PCN serving a population of circa 33,000 patients across two sites. Approximately half our population are members of Durham University.

We operate a total triage system which was implemented in September 2025. With that in mind, we're seeking a dynamic individual who will predominantly provide Acute Care to our population. The successful candidate must be confident in independently managing acute presentations of common illnesses and have an understanding of chronic disease implications.

For the right candidate a personalised job plan can be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is a Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Nurse Practitioner(NP/ANP)

They have been assessed as competent in practice using their expert clinical knowledge and skills. They have the freedom and authority to act and make autonomous decisions in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The ANP/NP provides an opportunity for patients to avoid the need to be referred to a GP, thereby enabling them to receive timely care and negate unnecessary delay in receiving treatment.

ANP/NPs in primary care can develop close, long-term relationships with their patients and work in partnership with them to achieve optimum health. They are autonomous in making decisions based on assessment, diagnosis and the interpretation of test results. They can independently prescribe appropriate medication, evaluate or refer to other specialists if necessary.
