A fantastic Opportunity has arisen for a GP to join our team. We are offering between Six & Eight sessions per week, rotated between core contract hours. Friday working is a requirement
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care namely:
- In person consultations.
- Telephone consultations.
- Triage requests
- Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes.
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
- Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required.
- All aspects of clinical administration.
- Contribute to new ideas and be part of the Practice Team.
Main duties of the job
Take accountability for the highest standards and
professional decision making in relation to presenting problems, whether
self-referred or referred from other health care workers across the practice /
PCN.
Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of
illness.
Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery
as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making
referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with
patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well
wider guidance such as that from NICE.
Ensure appropriate follow up of patients.
Record clear and immediate consultation notes to agreed
standards within clinical systems.
Actively participate in clinical audits, learning events and
practice meetings, within a culture of continuous improvement.
Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat
prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.
Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and in
accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good
Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance).
Work with and provide support for other members of the
primary health care team & Federation.
Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed and other
key performance indicator targets as shaped by the Clinical Director and
Federation team.

- Provide comprehensive primary medical care to registered patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing and referral as appropriate.
- Undertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations in line with the agreed job plan.
- Provide home visits when clinically appropriate and in line with our duty/visiting model.
- Manage acute presentations and contribute to same-day demand management
- Provide ongoing care for patients with long-term conditions, including medication reviews and evidence-based management.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and correspondence in line with NHS and GMC requirements.
2) Administrative and professional responsibilities
- Complete clinical administration arising from consultations in a timely manner (e.g. results, referrals, letters, tasks), in line with the agreed job plan.
- Participate in practice meetings, clinical meetings and multidisciplinary discussions as required.
- Contribute to the practices clinical governance activity, including audits, significant event reviews and learning from incidents/complaints.
- Support the training and development of the wider team where appropriate (e.g. medical students, ARRS staff), subject to experience and job plan.

- Work within practice policies and procedures, including safeguarding, infection prevention and control, information governance and prescribing policies.
- Contribute to maintaining standards required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
