Job summary

We are recruiting a Domestic Support Worker, 15 hours per week, 5am-8am each day.

As a Domestic Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the practice environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will help support the smooth running of clinical services by providing essential cleaning and domestic duties

Main duties of the job

  • Clean and maintain all clinical and non-clinical areas, including waiting rooms, consultation rooms, toilets, and corridors.

  • Follow infection control and health & safety procedures.

  • Dispose of clinical and general waste appropriately.

  • Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the practice manager.

  • Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are stored safely and used correctly.

  • Support the team by being flexible with duties as required.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Job Summary

    • General cleaning of Clinical Areas, offices, corridors, toilets and kitchens.
    • Emptying of general and clinical waste
    • Work to practice rotas, policies and procedures
    • Meet CQC cleanliness standards

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The principal duties of a Domestic Support Worker may include any or all of the items listed below. The individual duties may vary from time to time in relation to the prevailing workload and staffing levels, and tasking will be under the direction of the Business Partner.

    • Unlock the car park barrier

    • Opening and closing of the practice premises in accordance with practice security protocols
    • Turn all lights on and the practice computers
    • General cleaning of offices, corridors, clinical areas, toilets and kitchens
    • Replenish stock including bed rolls, soap dispensers, towel dispensers and gels
    • Sweeping, mopping, buffing of lino floors
    • Sanitation of sinks
    • Process clinical waste and completion of related paperwork
    • Remove all general waste
    • Provide annual and sickness leave cover for the Domestic Support Worker Team
    • Gritting in times of adverse weather conditions

    Confidentiality

    In the course of seeking treatment, patients permit staff to gather and store sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately. As such, in the performance of the duties outlined here, all staff must treat patient data as being strictly confidential, no matter how insignificant the detail may appear to be. Transmission of information relating to patients, carers, colleagues and other healthcare workers may be divulged only to persons authorised to receive it. This requirement also covers the activities of the Practice as a business and commercial entity.

    The post holder is responsible for promoting and maintaining high personal health and safety standards, and for working to protect the health and safety of those around them in relation to practice policy statements covering the following points:

    • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
    • Identifying and reporting risks associated with work activities and making recommendations for effective management of the risks involved
    • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
    • Using appropriate infection control procedure, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe condition and free from hazards
