Job summary
The Paramedic Prescriber will work alongside GPs within Lea wharf medical to assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute, urgent, and long-term conditions. The role supports same-day access, home visits, and urgent care while contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred primary care services. The post holder must be an independent prescriber and able to prescribe medications autonomously within their scope of practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will independently assess patients through face-to-face, telephone, and home visit consultations, develop and implement management plans, and provide appropriate treatment, referrals, and safety-netting. They will manage undifferentiated presentations, recognise clinical risk, and escalate to the GP or other services when required. The role includes requesting and interpreting investigations, prescribing within scope of practice (where qualified), and supporting patients with health advice and self-care guidance.
The Paramedic Practitioner will work closely with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, contribute to clinical discussions, and maintain accurate clinical records in line with clinical governance requirements.
