Job summary

We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Practice Manager to join our team.

We provide Primary Care services to approximately 2,500 patients across the Tamworth area. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be varied.

Experience of working in General Practice is essential for this role, including working knowledge of the Emis/Optum system.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the efficient and profitable running of the surgery, overseeing the administrative and operational aspects of a general practice and working alongside the partners on the business management.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the staff and ensuring the surgery is compliant with all healthcare regulations. They will need to be proactive with a positive and approachable manner.

About us

We are located in the centre of Tamworth with two GP partners and a small admin and clinical team.

We are part of the Mercian PCN which is made up of nine practices who work closely together with the aim of improving healthcare for the community and reducing health inequalities for all of our patients.

Our last CQC rating is Good.

Job responsibilities

Oversee the management of the day to day running of the surgery, including workforce planning.

Planning the day to day appointment diary.

Ensure that staff have the appropriate level of training and knowledge to enable them to carry out their individual roles and responsibilities.

Manage the HR Processes, including recruitment, relevant checks, contractual issues and appraisals.

Ensure employment law and legislation is adhered to.

Liaise with the PCN including the attendance at monthly managers meetings.

Keep completely up to date with any developments and changes within Primary Care.

Ensure the Practice hits all targets including QoF to maximise income and ensure patients are receiving the appropriate reviews.

Oversee the review and update of all practice policies and protocols.

Ensure ongoing CQC and Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance.

Responsibility for petty cash, taking payments for non NHS work.

Update the website and social media platforms.

Facilitate practice meetings and maintain an up-to-date action plan.

Responsibility for security, repairs, insurance and the maintenance of the surgery premises, services and equipment inclduing the annual pat testing, fire safety inspections etc
