Job summary
We are seeking a friendly, organised and resilient Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join our supportive team at Silverdale Medical Practice, a busy and well-established GP practice serving approximately 12,800 patients.
This is a key front-facing role where you will be the first point of contact for patients, both in person and by telephone, helping them access the right care at the right time. You will also provide vital administrative support to our clinical and management teams, contributing to the safe and efficient running of the practice.
Working afternoons (1.30pm6.30pm, Monday to Friday), this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service. You will be supported with full training, clear protocols and a welcoming team culture.

Main duties of the job
The role involves working as part of the reception and administration team to ensure patients receive a safe, efficient and welcoming service. You will handle incoming telephone calls and face-to-face enquiries, support patients with appointment booking and access to services, and help navigate our triage system.
You will also carry out a range of administrative tasks to support clinicians and managers, including processing correspondence, updating patient records, and managing routine practice workflows. Accuracy, confidentiality and good communication are essential, as you will regularly liaise with patients, clinicians and external services.
The role requires someone who can manage a busy workload, remain calm under pressure, and work collaboratively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. Training and support will be provided to develop the skills needed to succeed in a fast-paced general practice environment.
