You'll play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines while helping patients and practices thrive.
What you'll be doing
As a valued member of our team, you'll
- Support Clinical Pharmacists at PCN level with medicines optimisation and patient care initiatives.
- Perform medication switches and updates in GP practices in line with agreed protocols.
- Report on key performance indicators for CPGP to demonstrate added value for patients and general practice in accordance with NICE guidance.
- Conduct and share outcomes from clinical audits using SystmOne.
- Monitor MHRA drug alerts and help implement appropriate medication changes.
- Use and maintain information systems and databases relevant to the position including incident reporting, medicines optimisation, prescribing data, cost savings and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with GP practices, ICB teams, community and hospital pharmacies.
- Participate in meetings, including patient participation groups, to represent the pharmacy technician role and improve engagement.
- Help deliver the wider Medicines Optimisation Strategy.
- Handle sensitive information professionally, in line with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Guidelines.
- To be responsible for the organisation, planning and of own workload to meet set deadlines.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments.
This will involve assisting PCN in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.
What we're looking for:
- A qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with GPhC.
- Experience working in primary care, community pharmacy, or similar clinical setting.
- Confident using clinical systems SystmOne.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Great Communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment.
