Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Ellison View Surgery. This position is offered on a 3-month fixed-term basis with the potential to become permanent, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills and develop your career within the practice.

In this role, you will play an important part in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting our clinical team, and contributing to the smooth running of the practice. You will work closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, providing direct patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, promoting health and wellbeing, and enhancing the overall patient experience. Main duties of the job

  • Consult with patients and their families to assess needs and support care planning.

  • Assist clinical staff in delivering treatments, preventative care, long-term condition management, and patient education.

  • Provide clinical support to nurses and other healthcare professionals, including basic clinical interventions and minor procedures under supervision.

  • Act as a chaperone and support specimen handling, minor operations, and clinical waste management in line with IPC policies.

  • Work within national and local protocols, recognising professional boundaries and knowing when to refer patients.

  • Support enhanced services and practice administration as required.

  • Participate in mandatory training, induction, appraisals, and ongoing clinical governance activities.

  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and effective working environment at all times.

    Ellison View Surgery is a GP practice serving approximately 6,000 patients, supported by a skilled and experienced clinical team comprising 3 Partners and 1 salaried GP. The team also includes 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate, 1 Health Care Assistant, 1 Phlemobotmist .

    Our administration team consists of a mix of enthusiastic Medical Receptionists and experienced Senior Administrators.

    Core Responsibilities The following are the main responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant in delivering health services. Additional tasks may be required depending on workload and staffing:

    • Consult with patients and their families to assess patient needs

    • Assist clinical staff in treatment, preventative care, long-term condition management, health promotion, and patient education
