Maternity Cover - Qualified Dispenser

Job summary

We are a rural dispensing GP practice with 3,400 patients. We are a small, friendly team and are looking for a qualified dispenser for a maternity contract covering 21 hours a week working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Main duties of the job

You will work in the dispensary covering all aspects of work normally carried out in a traditional pharmacy setting including, ordering of drugs, processing patient prescriptions, picking and dispensing items and covering our busy patient service desk for collections and queries.

You will also cover telephones for medication queries.

General quality processes will include date checking, control drug register and working to industry recognised standard operating procedures

About us

We are a rural GP practice located in Wiltshire. We have 3,400 registered patients most of which are registered for our dispensary.

We are a small team which includes GPs, HCA, Nurses together with associated reception and admin teams. We are part of North Wilts Border PCN and are supported by ARRS staff such as pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, paramedics and social prescribers.

We are a training practice and actively support learning and development.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities

Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions. Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemptions.

Process and record controlled drugs in line with current legislations ensuring that all items are recorded in the register and regular checks are undertaken

Processing and bundling prescriptions for the Prescription Pricing Authority

Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage

Ensuring that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook

Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all dispensing equipment is kept clean and in good working order

Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions

Working within the guidelines issued by the practice standard operating procedures for dispensary ensuring these are followed at all times

Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the Dispensary Manager.
