Owing to semi-retirement, we are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our experienced and friendly Martonside team close to James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough.
The post is part-time, three days a week, there is some flexibility on the hours available.

The post holder will assist in the delivery of nursing care in general practice as a supervised practitioner, ensuring that all care is of a high standard and in a way that meets the privacy and dignity needs of the patient.
About us
The Ironopolis Medical Group was formed through the administrative merger of Martonside Medical Centre and The Endeavour Practice in June 2017.
This position is for our Martonside Practice. The group has 6 GP partners and a management partner. Each site has its own list of over 8000 patients and both are training practices.
We specialise in Occupational Health and our management partner is the non-clinical chair of Central Middlesbrough PCN. Our clinical system is SystmOne.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
General Care Responsibilities
To undertake Venepuncture for patients who attend a pre-booked appointment or at the opportunistic request of a clinician. To undertake venepuncture and process via INR Star system
To understand when there is an abnormal BM result and act on them accordingly and in conjunction with the policies in Ironopolis
Carry out weekly warfarin audits to ensure patient compliance.
To assist in the provision of care to patients.
To be involved in clinical policy development within the practice, providing input to any decision making processes affecting the care of patients.
Chaperoning patients as required.
Day to day / weekly tasks to ensure compliance with cold chain and emergency equipment including checking fridge temperatures, defibrillator, emergency trolley and all equipment as required
Maintaining Patient Records / ICT Systems
Ensuring all specimens left for collection are labelled correctly / marked on Practice Clinical system.
Arrange appointments for childhood immunisations / assist Practice Nurses at clinics. Record information / chase up non-attenders.
To communicate with all members of the Primary Health Care Team, sharing information and concerns re patients in adherence with confidentiality guidance.
Data input onto Practice Clinical system activities undertaken within the Treatment Room.
Ensure that records are kept up to date and legible to show audit trails
Liaise with other members of the primary health care team and other agencies in order to ensure appropriate care is provided for the practice population.
HCA Specific Duties:
Undertake ECGs urgent and pre-booked appointments
Hypertension reviews in accordance with Ironopolis policy
Arranging 24 hour BP monitoring for patients ensuring data is input when completed and equipment is functional.
Administer injections and vaccines under Patient Specific Directive (PSD)
Perform basic wound care
Perform ear syringing
HCA Responsibilities related to equipment / clinical stock
Collection of and / restocking of clinical equipment in consultation / treatment rooms.
Setting up trolleys for minor surgical procedures. Assist with procedures as required, follow-up of patients who have had surgical procedures.
Arrange and oversee the annual calibration of equipment to include defibrillator, BM machines etc. as per Equipment log.
Undertake the annual calibration of BP machines; recording the date of the calibration in accordance with Ironopolis policy.
Responsible for ordering / maintaining / keeping records of adequate / safe supplies of immunisations / clinical stock.
