Job summary
Riverside Medical Practice are a small friendly practice. we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced HCA to join our friendly team. We are a GP training practice with a total of 6,300 patients with 2 GPs, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses and 1 HCA. We provide free onsite parking and have good transport links. A good knowlege of SystmOne and QoF is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
General duties include ECG recordings, dressings, vaccinations ie. Flu, B12 and Shingles. Health checks/CVD and hypertension screening, new patient health checks, B/P monitoring and other basic clinic duties. ARTP performing spirometry certificate or willing to undertake training is preferable though not essential. Any additional training and further development will be considered for the successful candidate.

Job description
- Undertake new patient health checks
- Support the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, advising patients accordingly
- Undertake phlebotomy, wound care, dressings, healthy heart checks and other clinical tasks, as required
- Injections such as Flu, Covid, B12, Shingles, Pneumococcal
- Support the Practice Nurses with the management of chronic disease clinics
- Carry out BMI checks as directed
- Act as a chaperone as required
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Provide support during minor operations as required
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins are replaced in accordance with the Practice IPC policy
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion, where appropriate
