Job summary

Mid Dorset Primary Care Network is seeking dedicated and driven Pharmacy Team Coordinator. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of supporting our pharmacy team in delivering the Primary Care Network aims and objectives.

This is mainly a non-patient facing role, but you will need to contact patients via telephone from time to time so a confident telephone manner and excellent communication skills are essential.

You will be part of a wider team ensuring innovative care for Mid Dorset Patients, so if you are an excellent team player, have high levels of organisational skills and the ability to interact with a range of people then we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

To provide high-quality clerical and medicines management support to the Primary Care Network Pharmacy Team by coordinating and processing pharmacy team related tasks across multiple practices, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent processes. The post holder will work collaboratively with GPs, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other PCN staff to support patient care.

The network covers a population of approximately 50,000 patients across our practice partners: The Atrium Health Centre, Cerne Abbas Surgery, Fordington Surgery, Milton Abbas Surgery, Poundbury Surgery, Puddletown Surgery, The Prince of Wales Surgery.

Although practices still operate independently, working together collaboratively provides wider opportunities and services for patients.

Job responsibilities

Accurately process information in line with practice and PCN prescribing policies.

Proactively support the aims and objectives set out within the Pharmacy Strategy and delivery of highlighted projects

Liaise with patients, pharmacies, and clinical staff to resolve medication-related queries.

Work closely with the PCN pharmacy team to identify and action prescription synchronisation, drug monitoring, and safety alerts.

Ensure accurate and timely updating of patient records across practice clinical systems

Identify and escalate prescription anomalies or concerns to relevant clinicians.

Provide administrative assistance to clinical pharmacists in the PCN, including audit support and reporting.

Participate in training and quality improvement projects related to prescribing.

Develop and maintain systems to support PCN pharmacy projects

Promote consistency in prescription handling and contribute to shared learning across the PCN.

Strategic Development

Promote and embed the Pharmacy team within the multidisciplinary care model.

Contribute to PCN future planning of the Pharmacy Team

Operational Responsibilities
