Health Care Assistant

Job summary

We are looking for a Fixed term (12 Months) Maternity cover HCA to join our friendly established team at a lovely practice in Dunsville, Doncaster. Must have experience of working in General Practice and hold an NVQ 3 in health and social care. Do not apply if this is not the case.

Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Main duties of the job

New patient health checks

ECG recording

Phlebotomy

Spirometry

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses

Vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Vaccine and consumables re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
