Job summary

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly clinical team. We are a small but high-performing practice. You will be well supported by GP partners who are available every day in-practice.

The post is part-time.

Main duties of the job

  • Chronic Disease Management:Delivering expert care for Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, and Heart Failure patients.
  • Vaccinations & Immunisations:Administering adult and childhood vaccinations while maintaining cold chain policy.
  • Screening & Treatment:Performing cytology, venepuncture and travel advice.

About us

Cherry Medical Practice is a General Practice Partnership open to all patients living within our Practice boundary with a M28 or M38 postcode. We work in partnership with our patients and our Patient Participation Group to provide medical care for our patients. We are an active member of the Walkden and Little Hulton Primary Care Network. We work as part of the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board.

We are a team comprised of two female GPs, a practice nurse , one healthcare assistant, one practice manager, one reception manager, four receptionists and one care coordinatoor. We also currently have two pharmacists and a phamcacist technician working with the practice who review patient medications.

In this post you will be expected to perform and be competent in the following tasks as part of your daily duties.

Providing patient care through face to face and telephone consultations

Providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for minor ailments

Maintaining indemnity and professional registrations

New patient registration appointments and checks

Venepuncture

Taking cervical smear samples and keeping updated with skills and training

Carrying out spirometry

Administration of childhood immunisations

Administration of seasonal influenza and other vaccines

Chronic disease patients reviews and follow-ups

Taking ECGs

Fitting of 24hr ABPM for patients where needed

Procedures such as IM/SC injections

Contraception checks and follow-ups

Chlamydia screening

Awareness and adherence to all infection control policies

Actioning patient enquiries and patient notes on EMISWeb

Attendance at compulsory training eg Basic Life Support training, Safeguarding training (adult and childrens)

Awareness of terrorism risks, PREVENT training will be provided in post.

Attendance and compliance with Domestic Violence and IRIS guidelines. (Training will be provided)

Participation in appraisal and professional development

Using the Docman system actioning correspondence

Actioning DNAs as per the practice policy

Responsibility for contacting patients for reviews and chronic disease recall registers

GDPR competence

Child and Adult safeguarding awareness and compliance

Duty to report any Safeguarding concerns

Completion of Bridge referrals or Adult Safeguarding form where necessary

Training will be provided in the use of these computerised clinical systems where required.

  • Valid NMC registration. Minimum 1 year post registration. Experience working in a primary care environment. Chronic disease management. Good computer skills and previous customer-facing employment experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a busy healthcare setting and knowledge of clinical systems, e.g. EMIS Web and Docman.
