Job summary

Beaumont Lodge Medical Practice is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Surgery in this part time role.

Responsible for the effective supervision and coordination of the GP practice reception team during mainly afternoon sessions. The post holder will ensure the smooth running of front-of-house and telephone services, supporting safe patient access, high-quality customer service, and adherence to GP practice policies and NHS standards.

Please note the working pattern is mainly 1pm - 6.30pm between Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide supervision to reception staff during afternoon clinic
  • Oversee appointment booking, cancellations, and triage support in line with practice access protocols
  • Ensure accurate and timely use of clinical systems (e.g. SystmOne, AccurRx, Surgery Connect.
  • Handle patient concerns or complaints arising during the shift, escalating when necessary
  • Monitor demand, capacity, and workflow during afternoon periods and report pressures.

About us

We are a practice of almost 7000 patients across two sites. We have two GP partners and host registrar doctors. We have a full nursing team, admin team and full complement of additional roles such as Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health practitioner and First contact Physiotherapist.

  • Experience of dealing with the general public in challenging situations is essential.
  • Experience of telephone and face to face contact is necessary.
  • Excellent computer skills are required, and experience of Office 365 is advantageous.
