Morley and District Primary Care network have an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare assistant to join our team.The Health Care Assistant (HCA) plays a vital role within
primary care, supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient
care.
The role would be working across multi sites. e.g. different practice each day.
Main duties of the job
To assist the practice clinical team in the provision and
delivery of high quality patient care. Undertaking clinical work and related
tasks as delegated by the practice nurses or GPs following appropriate training
and assessment of competency.
To work as part of the Nursing team and strictly in
accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
To assist the Practice Nurses in the annual reviews for
patients on the practice register for Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease (COPD), Asthma, Chronic Heart Disease, Chronic Kidney disease, Ischemic
Heart Disease, Hypothyroidism, Mental Health and Hypertensive Disease.
To assist in the smooth running of clinics ensuring all
necessary equipment and stock is available and high quality standards of
infection control are maintained.
Some of the other duties include, though are not limited to
Phlebotomy
Wound Care
Assisting in Minor Surgery/Women's Health Clinics
Blood pressures and ECG's
Chaperoning
Administering Flu and B12 injections under a Patient

- Healthcare qualification Level 3.
- Phlebotomy / venepuncture certification
- GCSE Grade A to C in Maths and English
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Experience of working in healthcare
- Able to perform and understand blood pressures
- Good team player
- Able to work under own initiative
Desirable
- Experience of working in primary care
- Qualified in giving injections and vaccinations
- Basic knowledge of Long Term Conditions
- Experienced in performing manual blood pressures
- Experienced in performing ECG's

- Experience of working in a General Practice.
- NHS Health checks.
- Use of IT systems including System 1, Microsoft office, email and database systems.
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care.
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment.
- Covid vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation.
- Work closely with PCN Care Coordinator.
- Has relevant experience in health promotion, prevention, and supporting long-term condition management;
- Works under the supervision of a registered clinician while developing
- competencies in community-based care; and
- Is working at Support Worker Level Practice as described in the Primary
- Care and General Practice Nursing Career and Core Capabilities Framework
