Job summary
Maidstone Road Surgery, Rainham, have an exciting opportunity for a
Registered Nurse/Paramedic/Clinical Practitioner to join their small, friendly and
supportive team.
This is a permanent part-time
position, of 20-25 hours per week. The candidate will ideally be available to
work on a Thursday & Friday but we may be able to offer some flexibility
for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The role will include the
provision of acute same day and pre-booked care to our registered patients. The post holder will use their advanced clinical assessment, physical examination and decision making skills to autonomously assess, diagnose and treat patients. Consultations will be a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and occasional home visits.

We are a small, friendly and supportive team with 4700 patients in Rainham, Kent. We also have a dispensing branch surgery in Upchurch. Safe, effective and personalised patient care is at the heart of all we do.
We are a 2 partner practice (one GP & one Nurse Partner). For the past 2 years we have been voted as being in the top 10 best GP Surgeries in Kent.
We are well positioned for easy access to road and rail links to London and the Kent coast.

- Diagnose and manage patient presentations, using advanced clinical assessment and physical examination skills, requesting and interpreting investigations such as blood tests, ultrasound and x-ray to support your decision making.
- Develop management plans, in conjunction with the patient and their wishes.
- Prescribe medication when indicated, in line with evidence-based practice and local/national guidelines, reviewing effectiveness and compliance when required.
- Refer, when appropriate, to secondary care or other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate and work collaboratively within the general practice team, to meet the needs of patients.
- Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct, as regulated by their professional regulatory body
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion when communicating with patients and their relatives.
- Support the development of others within the practice.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
- Encourage patients to take responsibility for managing their own care and treatment, where it is safe to do so, and provide health education.
- Take a holistic approach to patient care, bringing together their medical, social and psychological needs.
