Job summary

We are looking for a motivated individual who wishes to join the team as a Health Care Assistant.

The Health Care Assistants form a vital part of the clinical team. They support clinical staff in the provision of the safe effective care to meet the needs of the patients. As part of the role, you will be assisting in ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained, with safe storage of equipment.

Although this list is not exhaustive, some duties will include.

-Blood tests

-BPs

-Accurately recording Height & Weight

-INR Star clinics

-B12 injections

-Assisting with Minor Op and Coil clinics

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

-Venepuncture

-Pulse oximetry

-Blood pressure checks

-ECGs

-Health checks

-Height and weight recording and documenting these findings accurately.

-Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.

-Taking bloods and booking patients in for follow-ups

-Ensuring bloods/ other samples are ready for hospital collection.

-New patient registration checks

-Maintaining training and keeping competencies up to date

-General stock maintenance and replenishment

This role would be best suited to someone who has a pleasant, empathetic manner as well as excellent communication skills. This role is for up 36 hours per week, but hours can be negotiated for the right candidate.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum of NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care

Qualified in Phlebotomy

Desirable

Immunisation training

ECGs

Knowledge of EMIS clinical system

Understanding the importance of the promotion of health and well-being e.g. Smoking cessation and diet and lifestyle advice etc.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
