Job summary
Thornaby & Barwick Medical Group are looking to welcome an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to our team.We are looking for an experienced healthcare professional, either as a qualified pharmacist or advanced nurse practitioner with the ability to prescribe.
We require:
- A masters degree or equivalent in the relevant area of expertise; that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competencies
- For advanced practice pharmacists only:qualified from an approved 18-month training pathway or equivalent and qualified as an independent prescriber
- For Advanced Clinical Practitioner Nurses only:have either graduated from a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc advanced practice programme or completed the Centres ePortfolio (supported) Route; both pathways enable eligibility for an Advanced digital badge issued by the Centre, demonstrating recognised educational and experiential preparation in advanced practice
The successful candidate would have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on an expanded role and scope of practice caring for patients.
Main duties of the job
For Advanced Nurse Practitioner:
The successful candidate will practice autonomously, within their speciality and be able to provide patient-centred care. This will encompass the skills of clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within an agreed scope of practice.
Be involved in decision-making and support new ways of working that create efficient and patient focused services.
Support the ongoing development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
Administration requirements to deliver safe patient care and be involved in the continuity of care.
Involvement in signposting, triage, and seeing patients.
Demonstrate a high level of expertise, providing advice, education, and support to patients, their families, and their carers.
For the Advanced Pharmacist:
An enthusiastic and forward-thinking clinical pharmacist.
Develop and manage all aspects of medicines across the practice network.
Working with highly skilled multi-disciplinary team you will work in a patient facing role based in both of our practice sites. This is an evolving role with huge scope for development.

Thornaby and Barwick Medical Group is part of BYTES PCN and provide services to patients via a multi-disciplinary team of GPs, Advanced Practitioner, Nurses, HCAs, GPAs, Physician Associate, Pharmacy Technician, MSK, Social Prescribers, Adult and children mental health professionals, alongside competent and efficient admin teams and managers.
We are a training practice and regularly host GP Trainees and hold education meetings to develop shared learning.
