Job summary

In partnership, Thornaby & Barwick Medical Group and Park Lane Surgery, Stillington are looking to welcome a General Practice Assistant into their teams.

A GPA will support the smooth running of the practice by performing routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GPs.

This role is to include clincal aspects, such as phlebotomy.

Main duties of the job

  • Administrative support for repeat prescribing - such as arranging blood tests, BP checks etc...
  • Supporting with gathering health data for Qof
  • Carrying out phlebotomy clinics at Park Lane Surgery
  • Liaise with the GPs and wider team to complete project work to improve health outcomes
  • Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies
  • Act as a chaperone as required
  • Participate in practice audits
  • Support with new patient health checks
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc

About us

Thornaby and Barwick Medical Group is a two site GP Practice taking care of the population in the Thornaby and Ingleby Barwick areas.We have a practice population of around 21,500.We are an experienced training practice with 8 GP partners, supported by our wonderful nursing team and resilient reception and admin teams.

We also work as part of BYTES Primary Care Network, which is made up of 4 GP practices including Park Lane Surgery.

Job responsibilities
