Main Purpose

• To support the management and development of the prescribing systems to ensure safe, effective, and quality prescribing within member practices in the network.
• To work closely with the PCN Clinical Pharmacist for prescribing on individual prescribing projects or audits.
• To develop strong working relationships with local community pharmacies to assist patients and provide a high-quality service.
• To act as lead contact for any complex prescribing queries on behalf of the network.
• Assist with the training of new pharmacy staff (Pharmacy technicians)
• Help the member surgeries with their CQC measures and PCN driven targets (IIF)
• To support the Operations Manager with clinical administration

Experience

Essential

• Evidence of extensive experience in relevant area of clinical practice Previous relevant experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Portfolio evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development
• Experience of delegation and supervision
• Experience of working flexibly and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience of having to prioritise caseload/manage own time effectively
• Experience of managing change and conflict situations

Desirable

• Experience of Audit

Qualifications

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 / BTECH in pharmacy services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification
• Accredited Checking Technician Qualification

• Where a PCN employs or engages a Pharmacy Technician under the
• Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme, the PCN must ensure that the
• Pharmacy Technician:
• a. is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC);
• b. meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified by
• the GPhC criteria76 to register as a Pharmacy Technician;
• c. enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway.
• For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP)
• or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH) or courses approved
• by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) as meeting the
• requirements of the UK-wide APTUK/PCPA National Competency
• Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians; and
• d. is working under appropriate clinical supervision to ensure safe, effective
• and efficient use of medicines
