Job summary

Southend Coastal Surgeries is looking for a Business Manager to oversee the merged surgeries. The surgeries have 2 branches - Thorpe Bay Surgery, and North Shoebury Surgery, covering roughly 17,000 patients. The surgery is part of the Southend East PCN which has its own building that patients can go to and the surgery works closely with the PCN. The practice uses a digital triage system called Anima, which is well utilised by the whole team.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships with NHS bodies, local authorities, and private healthcare providers.

Develop and diversify income streams through new service lines aligned with the practice's goals.

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Operational Management:

Support the Practice Manager in the day-to-day management of the practice to ensure efficient service delivery across departments.

Assist in implementing best practices in resource management, cost control, and operational processes.

Collaborate with the Practice Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements.

Manage IT systems, facilities, and administrative functions to support smooth operations.

Contract and Financial Management:

Work with the Practice Manager to oversee all contracts, negotiating favourable terms and ensuring timely renewals.

Monitor contract performance and ensure adherence to agreed standards.

Assist in overseeing financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.

Prepare financial reports for review by practice partners or the board.

Lead payroll processing and administer NHS pensions, ensuring compliance with regulations.
