Job summary
The Mayflower Medical Practice is a dual sited, dispensing GP Practice. We are looking to recruit two dispensers to join our small but busy team, to dispense acute, repeat and managed prescriptions as well as other duties.
Hours:30 hours per week over five days
Place of work: Bawtry and Finningley Dispensary
Hourly Rate: £11.44 per hour (National Living Wage)

To support the Practice in delivering an effective
primary health care service by providing a full range of dispensary duties.

The Mayflower Medical Practice, established in c1980, is a semi-rural, dispensing practice with a patient list size in excess of 7400, operating over two sites; Bawtry Health Centre is our main surgery and our branch surgery is at Finningley, which opened in 1991.

Job responsibilities
- Ensure that all medicines are prepared and
dispensed accurately, safely and promptly working to an agreed protocol and to
all applicable legal requirements.
- Process patient request for
authorised repeat medication, whether received in writing or verbally, to
ensure items are ready for collection within the pre-set time limits and that
repeat prescriptions for Home Deliveries are recorded and ready on time.
- Provide a point of contact
for patients with enquiries relating to repeat medication. Ensure that follow-up action is taken if
necessary, and thereby provide an efficient service for patients.
- To collect and record prescription charges and make
the appropriate checks for any exempt NHS prescriptions.
- To dispense private prescriptions and record their
payments
- To operate efficient stock control appropriate to
the needs of the practice with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply
for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock.
- To unpack drug orders and put stock away.
- To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the
appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
- To store and handle medication to specification required
of that drug.
- To check the backs of prescriptions for signatures
and exemption details. To endorse
prescriptions when applicable then count number of scripts and items for
submitting to PPA, along with other members of the dispensary team.
- To support and implement
Practice protocols for maintaining electronic patient information, i.e. input
and amending medication details.
- To follow Practice protocol and legal requirements
for controlled drugs.
- Ensure that the Dispensary is kept neat and tidy to
facilitate an effective working environment.
- To undertake any necessary work as may be required
and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
- To participate in Patient DRUM reviews

- To dispense medication into Monitored Dose Systems
when required.
