Job summary

We are looking for 2 full time Receptionists / administrators to join our busy GP practice. The ideal candidate will be flexible, friendly, with excellent customer service skills and work well within a team, whilst also able to use their own initiative. Good IT skills and an ability to work within a busy environment are also required

Main duties of the job

  • Extracting notes for all surgeries whether for open surgery or appointments
  • Answering the telephone and conveying messages
  • Accepting requests for repeat prescriptions, checking the fax and prescription box for repeat prescription requests
  • Sorting the mail
  • Photocopying insurance medicals and reports and maintaining record book and files thereof
  • Maintaining a log of telephone messages
  • Arranging transport for patients
  • Filing results and any other relevant documents in patients' notes and refiling notes after use
  • Maintenance of patients' notes including starting a new wallet when required and dividing the contents in a logical manner
  • Charging patients the appropriate amount for private work, providing a receipt to the patient and recording the charge in the Petty Cash book
  • Helping with the sorting of filing in new medical records in order that they are in the form used in the Surgery
  • Periodically checking the fax to make sure it is operational and has an adequate paper supply before leaving in the evening
  • Maintaining a record of daily lab tests, both outgoing and incoming, in a manner suited to the needs of the Practice

Our size list is around 7800 patients and our clinical team consists of 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 practice nurse, 1 HCA, 2 pharmacists. Our supportive admin team includes an IT manager, 1 practice manager, 1 Managing Partner and a great team of administration / reception staff.

Hours of work will be between 7 am- 6:30 pm, excludes weekends.
