Job summary

BWM Primary Care Network Ltd is a mature PCN that provides enhanced clinical services for three GP surgeries across Whitehall, Hawthorn and Beechtree.

Main duties of the job

This role requires previous experience of working in a GP environment and must meet the essential criteria required for this post.

Working alongside other clinical staff in the provision of patient care and under the supervision of a registered nurse. The main responsibilities will be to undertake the following tasks.

Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training

Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory

Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations:

Blood pressure

Pulse rate and rhythm

Temperature

Height and weight body mass index

Routine Blood Tests

MMSE Test

NHS Health checks

Part one of diabetic checks

Hypertension monitoring and other long term conditions

Venepuncture

ECG

Basic dressings- desirable

Prepare and maintain environments during and after patient care interventions

Perform new patient health checks

Provide chaperone services for patients and clinicians

Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted

Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence

Record information and activities undertaken with patients and carers in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems as appropriate

Maintain confidentiality or information relating to patients, relatives, staff and the practice

Understand and follow the requirements of confidentiality (including the Data Protection Act) and the Freedom of Information Act and to refer on any queries as appropriate.

Follow Practice policy regarding the use of email and computer tasks as the main internal method of non-verbal communication and the use of the intranet and the internet as the main source of internal and external information

Qualifications

  • Must be able to carry out all the specific requirements in the job specification for this position. GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development
  • Experience of using GP clinical systems, such as System One
  • Good technical literacy of Microsoft Applications e.g. Word, Excel, and Access etc.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of public health issues within the local area
  • Experience of working directly in a community development context, adult health and social care, learning support or public health/health improvement (can include unpaid work)
  • Experience of partnership/collaborative working and of building relationships across a variety of organisations including the voluntary sector
