Job summary
Cestria Health Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team. The GPA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and, if appropriate, some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time.
The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery.
Main duties of the job
Manage incoming and outgoing communications (emails, documents, tasks)
Help with appointment booking, patient queries and care navigation
Explaining treatment procedures to patients including arranging follow up appointments
Arrange weekly practice meetings, including preparation of lists, creating teams links and taking minutes
Managing GPSI referrals, including scanning, registration of patients and organizing triage, prior to appointment booking
Weekly extraction of information from GPSI clinics to prepare datasets for submission
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms for the GP to approve and sign including, but not limited to, insurance, mortgage and Department for Work and Pensions forms
Lead on health promotion and education work
Take and record observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature
Perform ECG's, Urinalysis, and phlebotomy (if trained)

- GCSE/NVQ level 2 or equivalent; or detailed patient services knowledge

- IT confident .
- Must have customer/patient care skills and have worked in a customer/patient facing environment.
- Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to compile and analyse statistical information.

- Experience of working with clinical systems i.e. Systm1 would be desirable.
- Experience working in primary care
- Experience of working in a public sector/healthcare environment would be extremely advantageous.
