Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full Time Medical Receptionist to join our friendly well established practice team with a list size of 7,500 patients based in Springwell Health Centre, Sunderland.

We are looking for a friendly, well organised, highly motivated individual to join our friendly hard working practice team. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience within Primary Care and knowledge of Emis Web with the ability to work well under pressure and will provide a high-quality patient service.

Main duties of the job

The applicant should have excellent communication skills with a flexible approach to work.

To act as first point of contact in the practice for patients and visitors

To deal with a wide range of reception and administration duties.

Keeping reception area tidy, clear and stationery up to date and full.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Politely greet patients and visitors to the practice.

Answering telephone calls and dealing with face to face enquiries.

Efficient communication with GPs, Practice Manager, Practice Nursing team, attached staff, hospital and other outside agencies.

Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with practice appointments procedures ensuring optimum efficiency of the appointment system.

Ensure computerised appointment system is up to date.

Respond and direct patients or visitors accordingly.

Explain practice arrangements and requirements to new patients.

Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.

Making sure that consulting rooms are fully stocked at times.

Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients.

Photocopying of patient medical records when requested by solicitors.

To have knowledge of how each clinic is run.

Advising patients on leaving medical/insurance forms including handling collection of fees.

Initiating hospital referrals for patients.

Any other duties as designated by practice manager or senior admin staff.

We are an accredited training practice. This means the practice will have fully qualified doctors at various stages of their postgraduate careers, such as GP registrars and medical students. being a training practice means that we have achieved the highest standards of care and aspire to maintain those standards of excellence.

The practice team consists of 7 GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Nurse associates and an admin team of 8 and 1 apprentice, Practice manager and Assistant Manager.
