Job summary
Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate
treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an
undifferentiated diagnosis.
Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions,
integrating both drug and non-drug based treatment methods into a management
plan.
Prioritise own workload and ensure effective
time-management strategies are embedded within the culture of the team.
Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles,
to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for
attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional;
diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness; seeing and
advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs.
There may be a requirement to see extra or emergency patients.
The nurse
practitioner will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients
accordingly, making any necessary referrals for investigations in the
appropriate manner.
The ACP will ensure interventions are undertaken in line with best practice guidance and use advanced skills appropriate to the role, ensuring clinical competencies are maintained in accordance with the framework for advanced clinical practice.

the centre of Newcastle with a branch surgery at Newbiggin Hall.
We care for approximately 41,000 patients with a high
proportion of students in the City Centre and a more typical population in the
branch surgery. The workforce consists of 7 GP Partners, 15 Salaried GPs and an
extensive Nursing team. In addition, we have a medicines management team including
3 Clinical Pharmacists and over 40 skilled staff members.

- Registered Nurse /First Level Nurse or other healthcare professional qualification leading to registration
- Evidence of degree level study or accreditation to advanced level
- Masters degree in advanced practice (for ACP)
- Evidence of completion of study in minor illness
- Independent/supplementary prescriber
Desirable
- Evidence of study in minor injury
- Evidence of study to conduct paediatric clinical examination
- Teaching/training qualifications such as ENB998 or equivalent
- Family planning

- Advanced clinical assessment skills including history taking/clinical examination
