Job summary
There is an opportunity for a Safeguarding Care Coordinator to join us at Shrewsbury Primary Care Network (PCN). The role will involve coordination of safeguarding activities, maintaining accurate records, liaising with statutory agencies, and ensuring timely responses to safeguarding concerns.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for facilitating internal safeguarding meetings, maintaining sensitive documentation, and supporting practices to maintain up-to-date safeguarding policies and training. The role requires excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills, with a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality obligations.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Shrewsbury PCN Safeguarding Care Coordinator.
- Support practices to maintain registers of children who are on Child Protection Plan, Child Need Plans, are a Looked After Child or where possible safeguarding concerns have been raised.
- Support with workflow, coding, summarising and circulation of safeguarding reports and safeguarding specific documents for all PCN practices.
- Liaise with the Local Authority to follow up on safeguarding referrals and, on a quarterly basis, reconcile Practice Registers.
- Prioritise and respond to strategy meeting invitations as advised by the relevant Practices Safeguarding Lead/GP.
- Respond to, and at times attend, child protection meetings as advised by the relevant Practices Safeguarding Lead/GP, prepare appropriate documentation and/or send apologies as required.
- Organise internal Safeguarding meetings for each Practice, preparing lists of patients for discussion, coordinating communication and invitations with third parties (e.g. health visitors, social workers, MASH, schools), taking minutes, updating patient records and coordinating any follow up actions.
- Work with the PCN practices to ensure that their safeguarding policies and procedures are up to date and consistent with agreed best practices, as defined by local and national guidelines.
- Provide training support to the PCN practices and PCN staff.
- Contribute to data collection and audit to improve standards for safeguarding practice across the PCN.
