Job summary
As a member of our team, you will be required to provide an effective and efficient reception and administration service within the Practice, liaising with the Patients of the Practice, staff within the Practice, the Primary Healthcare team, and other agencies
Main duties of the job
To provide a high-quality reception service to patients of the Practice, attending to their requests for appointments, prescriptions, certificates, general enquiries/queries
Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines
Assisting new patients to register with the Practice, providing the necessary paperwork and checking returned paperwork is complete
Registering new patients onto the computerised record system and removing patients who have left the Practice
Arranging health promotion/chronic disease clinic appointments.
Dealing with telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner, filtering and directing calls as appropriate, taking messages, and ensuring they are delivered accurately and in a timely manner to the appropriate staff
Advising patients of the relevant charges for private services e.g., insurance reports/medicals. Receiving and documenting payments
Sorting post
Receiving and checking deliveries
Allocating rooms
Maintaining the reception and waiting area, ensuring it is always presentable for patients and visitors and that relevant information is kept up to date i.e., Information leaflets/notice boards.
Chaperoning patients (when requested and with the appropriate training)
Ordering of urgent patient transport.
Locking up of premises - ensuring building security

Practice Summary:
Located in a purpose-built Medical Centre in Heanor, mid Derbyshire Market Town.
List size of approximately 9900 patients.
Very experienced Clinical Team comprising: 4 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 4 Practice Nurses (2 prescribers), 1 Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 1 Paramedic, 1 HCA, PCN Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physios, and allied Community Team including Community Matron, Midwife, Care Coordinator, Social Prescribers and District Nurses.
Established Non-clinical team consisting of 7 administrators and 7 Reception team members
Enhanced services including comprehensive contraceptive services, minor surgery, and joint injections.
Training Practice with GP Registrars, F2 Doctors, and Medical Students from the University of Nottingham.
Supportive atmosphere, mentoring available.
Close relationship with other Practices within the PCN,
Part of ARCH (Alfreton, Ripley, Crich & Heanor)
Rated good by CQC in March 2019.
