Part Time Medical ReceptionistDay/ Hours TBC - working hours 8.30am - 18.00pm
We are currently looking to recruit for 6 hours a day five days a week
Park Medical Centre is a friendly GP Practice in Southwark with just over a 6000 patient population. We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our current team. Excellent communication skills are paramount with a caring friendly manner.
Flexibility to cover holiday and sick leave will be needed.
This is a very demanding role which requires accuracy, an excellent telephone manner, computer & office skills, ability to multi task & work to deadlines all within a team environment
Main duties of the job
Opening up/locking up of the practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
Processing telephone and online requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring all requested are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Taking messages and distributing information
Filing and retrieving paperwork on workflow
Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning

The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a
requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload
and staffing levels:
a. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request
appropriately
d. Signpost patients to the correct service
e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members
and external agencies
f. Code data on the clinical IT system
g. Photocopy documentation as required
h. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as
required
i. Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary
j. Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA
forms to the administrative team
k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
l. Carry out system searches as requested
m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
n. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
o. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
