Salaried General Practitioner (Newly Qualified)

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a newly qualified salaried GP, using the ARRS funding scheme, working 6 sessions per week, to join us at our busy suburban / large village practice just south of Derby. To qualify for the ARRS scheme the GP must be within 2 years of qualifying and not have held a salaried post since qualification.

Salary: £10,500 per session p.a

Interviews will be held on Saturday 8th November 2025

Main duties of the job

This position requires a qualified and GMC registered GP to work with the team at Wellbrook Medical Centre to deliver NHS General Medical Services to our registered patients under GMS contract.

  • 6 sessions per week Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays
  • Enhanced hours (Saturday mornings) on rota

Job description

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including face to face and telephone consultations. Visiting patients at home or within Care Homes as required; check and sign repeat prescriptions, process pathology results and deal with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Make professional and autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Referring to other care providers and services as appropriate

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing and recording care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards on the clinical computer system

Involvement in clinical audit and Significant Event analysis

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Requirement to participate in the on-call rota to provided duty doctor cover, between 0800 1830.

Requirement to participate in the enhanced access rota (approx 1:12) Saturday mornings, 0830 1200.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Regular attendance at monthly Practice Clinical meetings, Medicines Management, Palliative Care/CST meetings

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. safeguarding children and adults, prescribing, data protection and confidentiality, health and safety, etc

Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Participation in the training programme for Registrars and medical students

Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records

Contributing to the summarising of patient records and appropriate coding of patient data

Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards

Reporting potential risks identified.

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work. Maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development
