Job summary
Hours: 25 30 per week over 4 days* (details to be agreed) with flexibility to provide sickness/absence cover for Saturday clinics between 8.30am 12 noon.
Applications are invited from candidates with relevant skills and experience for this post within our busy nursing team at this friendly, progressive and outstanding GP practice. Primary Care and phlebotomy experience are essential.

As a Health Care Assistant you will work under the supervision of and in liaison with the Practice Nursing team to provide and deliver a high standard of nursing care. You will participate in the care and treatment of patients, working within your levels of training and competency and in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.
The post is practice-based although your role may occasionally require the provision of care in a patient's home or in a care home.
Main duties of the job
Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, respirations and pulse, etc. New patient registration checks, including processing questionnaires and recording read coding of relevant clinical and family history into medical record
Blood pressure checks and home blood pressure/24-hour blood pressure monitoring
Wound assessment and management. Dressings, including 2-layer bandaging and leg ulcer dressings
Venepuncture, urinalysis, taking blood glucose measurements
ECG recording
NHS health checks & well person checks
Weight checks, BMI recording, waist measurements processing referrals to 'Live Life Better' and other services as required
Learning disability health checks
Smoking cessation advice referral to other services as necessary
Ear irrigation
Suture clip removal
Administration of flu vaccinations, Vitamin B12, pneumococcal, shingles, RSV and other injections in line with Patient Specific Directions
Assist in minor operations, including coil fits and implants
Support patients on general healthcare, promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to relevant healthcare services
Act as chaperone as required
Ensure maintenance of infection control standards
Undertake clinical tasks duties for patients within their own homes, or in Care Homes, if required.
