Phlebotomist

The closing date is 31 March 2026

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and confident Phlebotomist to support our Enhanced Access Service at Badger Farm Surgery in Winchester. This role focuses on delivering high-quality weekend care through safe, efficient and patient-centred phlebotomy appointments.

You will be working independently during Saturday sessions (08:30-14:00) supported by the wider Primary Care Network team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys providing a calm, compassionate service and is confident in carrying out adult venepuncture in a primary care setting.

We are recruiting for both ad-hoc (bank) and permanent part-time roles, with a start date from 4 April 2026. If you're reliable, well-organised, and passionate about patient care, we'd be delighted to receive your application.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include carrying out safe and efficient adult venepuncture for pre-booked appointments during Saturday Enhanced Access sessions. You will prepare patients for their blood tests, provide reassurance where needed, and ensure all samples are correctly labelled, documented and prepared for collection.

You will maintain high standards of infection control, follow aseptic technique, and ensure accurate recording of procedures using the appropriate EMIS templates. The role also includes checking stock levels, keeping the clinical area clean and organised, and escalating any concerns appropriately. As this is a weekend service, the ability to work independently and manage your workflow is essential.
