Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available at Crofton & Sharlston Medical Practice. We have recently launched a service to provide ADHD assessments and treatment within the West Yorkshire region. We are recruiting a Clinical Lead ADHD Practitioner to increase our clinical workforce.

We are a specialist ADHD diagnosis and treatment clinic operating throughout Yorkshire region. We are more than a diagnosis service, we provide bespoke assessment and treatment packages that are aimed at helping patients reach their full potential. As an integral part of our organisation, The ADHD Clinician (non-medical prescriber) will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, formulating and monitoring treatment plans. You will possess a strong understanding of evidence-based practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting, providing essential services to individuals seeking support for ADHD.

Main duties of the job

The role of Clinical Lead within the service is multifaceted, requiring a balance of leadership skills, clinical expertise and a commitment to maintaining the delivery of high-quality care. As a pivotal member of the team, you will play a key role in leading and supporting a group of dedicated clinicians, ensuring the effective functioning of the clinical team, the safe delivery of care, and excellent patient experience.

In your role as Clinical Lead, you will be expected to role model the behaviours and values of our organisation whilst demonstrating your clinical responsibilities and specialised skills as an ADHD Practitioner. This requires you to be an independent / supplementary Prescriber, supporting patients throughout their treatment pathway which will include the triage, assessment, diagnosis and where appropriate treatment.

As a clinical lead you will be expected to be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in ADHD clinical delivery. You will support staff with medically complex cases and at least one area of clinical speciality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision of the ADHD clinical team- Oversee and support the clinical work of team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards. This includes providing 1:1 Supervision, Supervised Assessments and Clinical Audit.

Conduct regular team drop ins to discuss cases, share knowledge, and address challenges. You will be the teams point of contact to discuss clinical issues including differential diagnoses, medical concerns and prescribing. This will provide an opportunity to ensure a unified approach to patient care, ensuring consistency across the ADHD service.

To be responsible for the clinical induction and coaching of all new staff within your team, supported by the wider programme of onboarding within the organisation, and to provide support to the clinician throughout the probationary period as required

Experience of overseeing & managing mental health risk &/or safeguarding concerns raised by your team. This must include the ability to contain and support so they can carry out their role efficiently and promote a culture of safe management of risk. You will be the first point of contact for support regarding the management of risk providing advice and guidance and ensuring adherence to the relevant legislative and legal requirements.

In the absence of the Practice Manager, you will be the point of contact for your team members to report and record clinical incidents, taking all necessary actions to ensure the immediate safety of patients, their families and staff.

You will have the ability and willingness to hold productive, but challenging conversations, and follow formal processes in collaboration with the Practice Manager where team members are not meeting clinical expectations or quality standards. You will be responsible for supporting the clinical element of a team members performance improvement plan.

You will also complete a range of patient safety incident reviews and investigations at the instruction of the GP Partners and Management Team. You will be required to analyse and interpret a range of facts and situations and make appropriate recommendations to learn from the findings of the incident.

You will be required to deliver whole team training sessions, the content of which will be determined by both themes from serious incident reports , emerging themes from frequently asked questions at clinical drop in sessions and post ADHD Academy extended learning.

You will possess well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carer and other professional colleagues both within and outside of the organisation.

You will undertake deep dives, clinical supervision sessions, observed assessments and follow ups of your designated team of clinicians.

To take responsibility for own continuous professional development, maintaining a sound level of professional knowledge and competence in line with professional development plan agreed at annual appraisal.

In addition to your Clinical Lead role, you will be required to meet the requirements of the ADHD Practitioner Job description as outlined below:

Assess adults for ADHD, considering differential and/or co-occurring conditions to make diagnostic decisions.

You will practice as a non-medical prescriber (independent/supplementary prescribing) to develop and implement treatment and titration plans, ensuring physical observations are obtained and reviewed.

You will support the patient throughout their treatment journey, conducting regular follow ups under your care until they have reached stability and optimisation.

Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs in conjunction with treatment strategies during the patient journey.

Responsibility for ensuring that the prescription is written as per legal requirements for controlled and non-controlled drugs

Maintain accurate and timely client records on Systm1 and associated clinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate record keeping, and the recording of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy.

Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to security in relation to prescription security and management.

You will be responsible for recognising and reporting clinical Incidents and near misses to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement.
