Job summary

We are a large busy medical practice that provides general practice medical services to over 11,000 patients in the Radcliffe and Bury area.

We are looking to employ a medical administrator to join our supportive and friendly practice Team.

We offer competitive rates of pay, holiday pay and the NHS pension scheme.

Main duties of the job

The role of medical administrator covers a wide range of administrative duties such as:

Being the first point of contact for patient and service users

Navigating patient calls to services

Booking appointments

Maintaining patient notes and processing patient requests using the Emis clinical system

Filing of patient letters and documents electronically

Completing daily administrative tasks

The practice will provide full training plan to successful applicants.

About us

The practice was established over 40 years ago and is one of the oldest practices in Radcliffe. The practice clinical Team consists of 2 GP Partners, 5 salaried GPS, 2 ANPs, 3 nurses, a HCSW and a phlebotomist who are supported by our excellent administrative Team.

As a training practice we also oversee the training of FY2 and ST3 GPs.

The practice has a protected monthly learning time for all staff to undergo training.

Job responsibilities

Reception

1. Treating patients with care and respect

2. Utilise computer system to ensure efficiency of appointment system and maintain flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.

3.Answering the telephone and dealing with requests, recording onto computer where appropriate.

4. Action requests for ambulance transportation.

5. Action requests for interpreters

6. Action requests for home visits according to practice protocol

7. Entering messages to clinicians via tasks on EMIS

8. Send text messages to patients

9. Liaise with other healthcare professionals regarding patient care

Computing - EMIS

1. Updating computer information

2. To manage the computerised appointment system (following protocol)

3. Scanning of clinical letters onto patient computerised notes.

4. Using the workflow system, distribute in-coming patient clinical letters to appropriate clinician.

5. AskmyGP online patient booking system

6. Booking patients into the Extended Working Hours service

  • 1.Capable of prioritising workload and carrying out duties with minimal supervision
  • 2.Accurate data entry.
  • 3.Some previous experience of using office equipment. i.e., scanner, photocopier, etc.
  • 4.Ability to handle confidential material in an appropriate and sensitive manner and will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • 5.Pleasant and confident telephone manner
  • 6.Ability to work as part of a team
  • 7.Flexibility to cover sickness and holiday

  • Previous experience of working in a GP setting
