Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist to join the team at Blacketts Medical Practice. The successful candidate will ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and visitors to the practice, both face to face and over the telephone.

Hours:

Monday 8am - 6pm

Tuesday 9am - 5.30pm

Wednesday 8am - 5.30pm

25 hours per week over three days, some flexibility in hours will be required.

12 month fixed term contract, to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.

Deal with all general enquiries, explain processes, make new and follow-up appointments.

Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure completion of paperwork as appropriate.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.

Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.

Enter patient information on to the computer system as required.

When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is fully secured, internal lights are off and the alarm activated.

Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Reception Supervisor or Practice Manager.

About us

We are a successful practice with a list size of around 11,500 patients. We have 5 partners and 3 salaried doctors, Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacist, an excellent nursing team and a stable, friendly and efficient administration team. We score highly for QOF and were rated "good" in our last CQC inspection. We are a SystmOne practice.

We have spacious purpose-built premises in the centre of Darlington, which also houses private physiotherapy and chiropody services. Our space means that we are able to provide rooms for social prescribers, midwives and mental health workers, which enables us to work closely with them to provide excellent patient care.
