Job summary
We are looking for two highly motivated individuals to join our GP Practice as a Medical Secretary as part-time as a job share. 19 hours each. Both 2 and a half days, Monday to Friday on opposite days.
Previous experience in a GP surgery as a Secretary or Hospital Secretary role would be essentail and have an understanding of medical terminology. Prioritise workload and submit the 2ww referrals straightaway.
Familiar with Emis Web and Docman 10 software would be an advantage, but training can be given. Medical Terminology experience and able to type from audio dictation. We are also using a software called Dragon and this allows doctors to dictate and it automatically types, so then it could be a cut and paste exercise for some referrals.
We have 5 Gp Partners with a practice of just under 8000 patients. Partners use Lexicom and Dragon for dictation. Secretaries need to be able to prioritise and work on own initative. Be resourceful when looking for information for the doctors.
Communicate well with all colleagues within in house and secondary care staff, as well as patients.
Main duties of the job
Submitting patient routine and urgent and 2 week wait referrals. Coordinating with patients and the appropriate care departments/agencies. Producing and submitting clinical letters and reports as requested/drafted by our GPs and Health Professionals. Dealing with clinician and patient queries with regards referrals, the shared care documents with secondary care and organise the GSF meetings with all parties, interal and external, taking minutes of meetings. Communicating effectively with individuals across the surgery and with third parties.
Other secretarial duties such as typing for the manager or posters of opening times for the surgery etc.,
About us
We are a rural village practice with just under 8000 patients. A dispensing practice to just over 50% of that population.
We have a great family work ethic and have had works walks across Shugborough to the local wimpey with families and dogs.
We have great team support with Reception, Admin Nursing and Dispensary teams and also a great PCN team that we share with Rugleley practices, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Mental Health Workers, Social Prescribers, and Phyicians Associate and First contact Physios that all hold clinics at the surgery.
