Job summary
Prudhoe Medical Group is a friendly, approachable, training practice in Northumberland. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced Practice Nurse to join our team working 20-30 hours a week.
The Practice offers a variety of appointments and clinics including childhood immunisations, cervical smears, long term condition monitoring, as well as general nursing and clinician appointments. Special interests and personal development are welcomed and encouraged.
Main duties of the job
As a Practice Nurse, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of clinical services to our patients, including but not limited to:
- Cervical Screening: Performing cervical smears to screen for abnormal cervical cells, in line with the current national guidelines and best practice protocols.
- Immunisations: Administering childhood vaccinations, flu vaccines and other routine vaccinations.
- Long Term Condition Management: Monitoring and managing conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension.
- General Nurse Duties: Undertake routine assessments, blood pressure checks, bloods (in children) and urine testing.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the GPs, HCAs, and administrative staff to ensure the smooth delivery of services.

Our clinical team includes 3 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 3 Healthcare Assistants, 1 Phlebotomist, a Pharmacist and other ARRS staff including a Paramedic and FCP.

- Nursing Qualification: Registered Nurse with a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) pin.
- Previous experience in Primary Care or a similar setting is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD), with a desire on improving own skills and knowledge.
Desirable
- Two years experience working within a GP practice or similar healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of current NHS policies and guidelines.
- Additional qualifications or training in areas such as cytology, COPD, diabetes management, or family planning.
- Understanding of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) clinical expectations.
