Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as proficiency in aseptic techniques. The Phlebotomist will work closely with other healthcare professionals in a our GP surgery, providing essential support for patient care.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages (not inclusive of children)
  • Ensure the correct identification of patients prior to sample collection.
  • Maintain aseptic technique during all procedures to prevent infection.
  • Label and handle specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
  • Document patient information and details of the procedure in accordance with surgery protocol.
  • Provide basic life support when necessary and respond to patient needs effectively.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Collaborate with surgery staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.

About us

We are an urban rural practice in the Tyne Valley.

We have 3 partners and 3 salaried GPs who are supported by a large nursing and admin team.

We also host a variety of ARRS staff within our practice.

  • - Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable but not essential.
