Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive General Practice team. As an HCA in a GP setting, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical team in the day-to-day running of the practice
Working under the guidance of the nursing team and GPs, you will carry out a range of clinical tasks such as CCSP Part1 Chronic Disease Reviews, Blood pressure monitoring, Phlebotomy, ECGs NHS Health Checks, assisting with Minor Ops and Coil clinics and simple wound care
You will also contribute to the overall patient experience by providing reassurance, health promotion advice, and practical support throughout their visit
This role is ideal for someone with previous HCA experience, preferably in primary care or community health, who is enthusiastic, organised, and committed to making a difference in the lives of patients
The post is a permanent position and we can offer between 24 to 30 hours per week
Core working hours are 8.15 to 18.00 and we can offer some flexibility for one shorter working day per week
Salary depends on experience and skills
Main duties of the job
To support the practice nursing and administrative teams
in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the
practice team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled
patient population
The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical
staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and
patient education whilst also supporting the administrative team on an
as-required basis
About us
We are a two site GP surgery looking after 18,300
patients and work out of two purpose built modern Medical Centres in Leeds 9
Osmondthorpe and Leeds 15 Crossgates
We have a team of 40 including doctors, nurses,
receptionists and admin staff working out of the two medical centres so you
will be joining a well established and experienced team
Our nursing team consists of a Nurse Manager, 7 Nurses, 2
HCAs and 1 Nurse admin support
There is on site free parking at both sites and there are
staff rest areas for lunch and breaks
We also provide a staff uniform and offer free tea,
coffee, chilled water to all members of staff

other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing
levels:
Undertake new patient health checks
Carry out NHS Health Checks
Support the practice nurse with health promotion
programmes
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery,
blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
Facilitate routine and 7 day BP monitoring, advising
patients accordingly
Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks
as required
Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic
disease clinics
Carry out Height, weight and BMI measurements
Act as a chaperone as required
Carry out ECGs as requested
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward
transportation
Provide support during minor operations and coil clinics as
required
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
