Job summary

Millbarn is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, well organised GP seeking a strong work-life balance to join us for 4 sessions/week.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will manage a patient caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs, ensureing the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patietns. Main duties are to support the 4 GP partners in the Practice to manage a busy, interesting clinical caseload. The appointee will also have the opportunity to take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse suburban patient list; including Directed Enhanced/Local Services commissioning, patient participation and health promotion.

About us

Millbarn is a forward-thinking vibrant partnership with 4 GP partners providing care alongside two salaried GPs, 2 trainee Registrars, two Nurses, a Paramedic, 2 HCAs, and a strong admin team for 10,000 patients. In addition, many of our PCN staff are based on site (full and part-time) including Care Coordinators, Social Prescribers, Physician Associate, First Contact Physio, Mental Health Practitioner, Health & Wellbeing Coaches, Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacist Technician.

Millbarn utilises EMIS Web Clinical System, AccuRX, Docman 10, BetterLetter and Klinik Healthcare Solutions Online Triage Software. The later allows us to ensure all patients are responded to on a daily basis and signposted to appropriate member of the clinical and administrative teams.

Based at the new Beaconsfield Medical Centre, just off the M40 with plenty of parking, the practice is an easy commute from London, Reading, Oxford and southern Hertfordshire. We are now looking for a Salaried GP to join our long-standing friendly, efficient, and supportive team.

Alongside its GMS provision Millbarn provides the Community ENT Service for Buckinghamshire and scores consistently high on the GP patient satisfaction survey annually.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

1) In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, duty cover (to include triage) and dealing with queries, paperwork, referrals and correspondence in a timely manner.

2) Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the Practice.

3) Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

4) Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

5) In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

6) Providing counselling and health education.

7) Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

8) Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

9) Collecting data for audit purposes.

10) Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

11) Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

12) Ensuring that all work carried out which carries a private fee is properly recouped and accounted for; e.g. Medical Reports, Insurance reports, Private letters to third Parties etc.

13) In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other responsibilities within the practice:

1) Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.

2) A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.

3) Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the Practice.

4) Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.

5) Contributing to the summarising of patient records and accurate Read-Coding of patient data.

6) Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
