Job summary
AW Surgeries is looking to appoint a friendly and well-organised afternoon/evening receptions to join our team to work 30 hrs per week. This important role supports the daily running of the practice by greeting patients, managing appointments and to provide an efficient and friendly service to patients attending the practice for their appointments or when accessing medical requirements like blood labels or fit notes. Offering support and direction to patients in a courteous and friendly manor and making sure that communication between patients, members of the Primary Health care team is efficient and effective.
The hours would be as follows:
Monday 1pm till 7pm
Tuesday 2pm till 8pm
Wednesday 2pm till 8pm
Thursday 1pm till 7pm
Friday 1pm till 7pm
The successful candidate will be confident in working in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, confident using IT systems, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be committed to delivering high-quality patient care. Confidentiality, professionalism, and excellent customer service are essential, as the role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the practice reception. Previous administrative or receptionist experience, particularly within a healthcare setting, is desirable.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to undertake a variety of reception and admin duties to assist in the smooth running and operation of the practice, including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team, whilst projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors either face to face or via the telephones.
Main Duties of the job:
Ensure an efficient and effective reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Handling enquiries from patients both in person and over the phone, ensuring messages are passed on accurately and promptly
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and support patients when needed.
Providing clerical assistance to the practice as and when required photocopying and scanning.
Keep the waiting room and reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
Updating notice boards ready for next days appointments
Topping up medical supplies in clinical rooms ready for next days appointments.
Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
Managing and processing repeat prescription requests.
Managing and processing fit note requests.
Provide administration support to Admin team.
Providing cover and support colleagues when required to maintain service levels.
Working in accordance with practice protocols, safeguarding principles and confidentiality policies.
About us
AW Surgeries have two surgeries based in Brierley Hill at Albion Street and Withymoor, Squires Court. We have a practice size of 17,000 patients. Our team consists of 7 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, 2 ANPs, 4 Nurses, 1 HCAs and 25 highly qualified and experienced Admin staff. As part of our Primary care network we also have working alongside us, Listening and Guidance, Podiatrist, Midwife and pharmacists.
We are a Teaching General Practice working with the University of Birmingham to train medical students from all clinical disciplines. We work closely with our 6 neighbouring practices as part of the Brierley Hill and Amblecote Primary Care Network.
