Job summary

AW Surgeries is looking to recruit a relief cleaner to join the team.

We are seeking an experienced cleaner who will be able to cover all annual leave and sickness absences through out the year. The working hours will be between 6pm - 8pm per shift. It is expected that that there will be a minimum of 30 weeks cover required ( not including sickness absences)

Main duties of the job

To ensure that the standard of cleanliness within the organisation is implemented and maintained, ensuring a clean environment for patient care.

A schedule of cleaning has been added to each area throughout the organisation. The cleaner is to maintain detailed records of activity for regular and robust cleaning audits.

To correctly dispose of waste in accordance with the Waste Management Policy, whilst also considering the organisations obligations as detailed within the Environmental and Sustainability Policy.

To maintain good communications with both the Cleaning Manager and the Practice Manager.

We have 7 partners,2 salaried GPs, 1 ANP , 1 Paramedic , 4 nurses, 3 HCAs, pharmacist, CPN, Physiotherapist, midwives and voluntary sector input. We are a well-established multidisciplinary training practice for the Back County VTS, teach students from Birmingham medical school and mentor nurse practitioner training and prescribing training for nurses and practice based pharmacists.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the cleaner.

a. To maintain cleaning standards using the recognised quality control procedures

b. For auditing purposes, to maintain robust cleaning records to detail activity

c. To follow the cleaning schedule

d. To ensure that the correct cleaning methods are observed

e. To use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner, adhering to manufacturers instructions

f. To replenish all consumable items (hand towels, toilet roll, etc.) as required

g. To remove general waste in accordance with the Waste Management Policy and in consideration of the organisations Environmental and Sustainability Policy

h. To always adhere to the colour coding system for cleaning equipment, seeking appropriate guidance if required

i. To ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe and secure manner, adhering to COSHH, HASAW and other legislative acts and guidance

j. To undertake legionella flushing of systems within the organisation

k. To maintain communication and report any faulty equipment or defects to the Deputy PracticeManager as soon as practically possible

l. To participate in cleanliness audits and follow audit action plans to rectify any identified areas for improvement
