Job summary
The post holder will work as a member of the Healthcare Team, offering directed treatments to meet the needs of patients.
- To provide high quality patient care to the Practice population as directed by the Practice Nursing Lead, and communicate this effectively and appropriately within the clinical Practice team.
- To work as a supervised member of the healthcare team, performing delegated nursing duties and have the insight and confidence to recognise and work at all times within the boundaries of safe Practice based on your own competence and the limitations of the HCA role.
Main duties of the job
Expected competencies to include, but not limited to:
- New patient health checks and other health screening
- Urinalysis and preparation of specimens
- Blood tests and phlebotomy
- Long term condition reviews where appropriate
- Vaccinations including flu/pneumococcal vaccines
- Dressings and wound-care
- Diabetic checks
- ECGs
- ABPMs
- Patient education and promotion of health and well-being
- Gathering lifestyle data from patients
- Infection control and equipment management
- Vaccination management and clinical stock control
