Job summary
We are a modern, forward-thinking general practice operating across two well-established sites in Knebworth and South Stevenage, serving a diverse patient population in both suburban and semi-rural settings. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate practice nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified and experienced practice nurse to deliver high-quality care across a broad range of essential services. These include cervical screening, childhood and adult immunisations, wound care, contraception advice, travel health, and infection prevention and control.
You will work closely with GPs, HCAs, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure our patients receive safe, personalised care. We are proud to be a teaching and training practice, supporting GP registrars, medical students, nursing students, and other learners. We actively encourage professional development and continuous learning for all team members.
If youre looking to join a welcoming, progressive, and education-focused environment where your skills are valued and your growth is supported, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The practice nurse will deliver a broad range of evidence-based clinical services across both sites, working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include cervical screening, wound care (including suture removal and dressings), contraception advice, childhood and adult immunisations, travel health advice, and supporting infection prevention and control procedures.
The role involves working autonomously within the scope of professional practice while adhering to clinical protocols and national guidance. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care by maintaining accurate clinical records, using SystmOne templates and coding appropriately, and supporting the achievement of QOF, IIF, and local enhanced services where relevant.
The practice nurse will work collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, pharmacists, and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient care pathways and a responsive, patient-centred service. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain up-to-date clinical competencies and participate in ongoing professional development supported by the practice.
