Job summary
Dalston Medical Group is a friendly, approachable, innovative, training, dispensing practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced Practice Nurse to join our team working approximately 20 hours weekly.
The Practice offers a variety of appointments and clinics including childhood immunisations, cervical smears, coil implants, long term condition monitoring, as well as general nursing and clinician appointments. Special interests and personal development are welcomed and encouraged.
Main duties of the job
As a Practice Nurse, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of clinical services to our patients, including but not limited to:
- Cervical Screening: Performing cervical smears to screen for abnormal cervical cells, in line with the current national guidelines and best practice protocols.
- Immunisations: Administering childhood vaccinations, flu vaccines and other routine vaccinations.
- Wound Care: Perform dressings, leg ulcer management and other wound care procedures.
- Chronic Disease Management: Monitoring and managing conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension.
- General Nurse Duties: Undertake routine assessments, blood pressure checks, ECGs and urine testing.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the GPs, HCAs, ANP and administrative staff to ensure the smooth delivery of services.

- Previous experience in Primary Care or a similar setting is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD), with a desire on improving own skills and knowledge.
Desirable
- Two years experience working within a GP practice or similar healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of current NHS policies and guidelines.
- Additional qualifications or training in areas such as cytology, diabetes management, or family planning.
- Understanding of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) clinical expectations.
