Job summary

The role will consist of working with Derby City Senate, PCNs and the practices, learning about Primary Care from the ground upwards, to gain skills in Health Service project management, IT and data handling, human resources, finance, team management and leadership. This will include education modules with the expected outcome of a certificate in management, improvement, and transformation. Our vision of this programme is to develop managers in Primary Care for the future by providing education, mentorship, and practical experience.

Main duties of the job

To be a part of the interview panel for new clinical staff and non-clinical staff

To support Human Resources decisions and processes

To disseminate clear communications and information to Networks and Practices

Meet with and form relationships with Practice Managers

To work on service development with Clinical Directors / City Senate

Optimise both City and PCN financial resources and planning

Work with the PCNs to maximise revenue streams through implementation of IIF and other initiatives

Aid Practices in collaborating to avoid duplication of work

Shadow Practice staff to help gain an in-depth knowledge of health management

Work with practices to learn how to overcome day to day challenges within health management

Read and understand the Network Contract DES, and other enhanced services, and help ensure PCN's and Practices are adhering to the specification and KPI's

Use innovative ways of working to find solutions and make sure obligations are met

Collaborate and network with other PCN's and PCN groups to gain ideas and to help our services run efficiently

To work with the leadership team on changes to services to ensure quality and sustainability

Be a point of contact for PCN Managers in reference to at scale shared city service plans

Key Duties and Responsibilities

To assist existing management structure with day to day running of the current services, its Primary Care Networks and Practices;

To be a part of the interview panel for new clinical staff and non-clinical staff

Enable Population Health Management initiatives and their implementation

Help Clinical Directors Identify and work towards to improving health inequalities of all types within the population of Derby City

Help increase diversity and inclusion within the primary care workforce

To assist with contract and enhanced service management

Read and understand the Network Contract DES, and other enhanced services, and help ensure PCN's and Practices are adhering to the specification and KPI's

Use innovative ways of working to find solutions and make sure obligations are met

For the first 6 months, get to know the basics of health management within Derby City, through working with different practices and PCN's, as well as forming relationships within the City Senate. As well as a broad knowledge, start to develop an interest in a more specialised area to help with City Senate plans

In the next 12 months, help run a specific Derby City Senate project
