Staffa Health are looking to recruit a Treatment Room Nurse to join our dynamic forward-thinking team for 16-20 hours per week

We are seeking team players to work within an outstanding team, with a flexible approach to work and a keenness to learn.

You will be required to work as part of the practice team to facilitate the provision of nursing services and to implement care for patients who are registered with the practice.

To carry our nursing procedures, technical measurements, investigations, immunisations, and health promotion advice as appropriate, for patients under the indirect supervision of the nurse manager.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess patients' health needs and develop care plans to meet their needs.
  • Undertake nursing procedures
  • Take part in the screening for, and maintenance of treatment for long term conditions according to the protocols of the practice, referring to other health professionals as appropriate e.g. diabetes screening, follow up investigations, blood pressure measurement.
  • Administer and monitor medication including issue of medication within Patient Group Directions and according to individual prescription instructions e.g. Zoladex, Mycrisin, Travel vaccinations, rheumatology drug monitoring.
  • Actively engage patients and carers in the management of health problems and actions to improve health by providing health education and support according to practice and national guidelines e.g. obesity management, smoking cessation, travel health advice.

Job responsibilities

In conjunction with other nurse team members, provide nursing care for the following areas:

  • Wound care
  • Venepuncture
  • Aural care
  • Immunisations for adults
  • INR monitoring and using supporting software to advise patients of warfarin doses.
  • Travel vaccinations assessing the requirement and schedule for vaccination and implementing a plan for delivery.
  • Investigations as instructed by other clinicians and interpreting results where appropriate e.g. vaginal swabs, wound swabs, blood tests, assisting with minor operations and intrauterine device fitting, supporting patients, preparing and disposing of equipment, record keeping and offering appropriate follow up.

  • 2. Registered Nurse
  • 3. Membership of professional body

Desirable

  • 1. Supervisory Management or mentorship qualification

  • 2. Experience of using own initiative and working autonomously
  • 3. Practical experience of computerised recording systems

Desirable

  • 1. Experience of working within a General Practice
  • 2. Experience of working in a community setting

  • 4. Some knowledge of the Practice clinical system (EMIS Web)
