Job summary

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable part-time (covering Maternity) Prescription Clerk / Receptionist to join our committed team at Margaret Street Practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive, patient-focused environment, playing a vital role in the smooth running of our busy general practice.

Main duties of the job

Prescription Duties

Be responsible for processing repeat prescription requests efficiently and accurately, liaising with patients, clinicians, pharmacists and care homes to ensure timely medication management. This role plays a vital part in supporting patient safety and continuity of care.

Reception Duties

Ensure all patients and visitors at reception and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally and politely.

Answer all incoming phone calls from patients and other healthcare professionals and divert as appropriate, and/or take and pass on messages.

Deal with a variety of administrative queries and requests from patients and clinicians as necessary.

Make/Cancel/Re-arrange appointments via the clinical system and support and assist clinicians as required.

Ensure up to date patient information is recorded. Give test results where appropriate.To be responsible for opening and locking up premises.

About us

We are a 5 GP and ANP Partner Practice serving a population of 9,500 patients, we also have a dedicated and supportive Practice team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Minor Ailments Nurses, Mental Health Practitioner and Health Care Assistant.

We are a well established, friendly and forward-thinking Practice in Ammanford, only 5 minutes off Junction 49 of the M4.

Essential

  • Previous experience in Prescriptions / Receptionist or Customer Service role desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (EMIS/Vision experience is a plus).
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • A friendly, professional and compassionate approach.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Be available to travel between Ammanford and Tycroes sites as required.
  • Be available for an 8.00 am start and be able to work at least one day until 18.30 pm

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a GP practice would be helpful but not essential.
